Home/Scheduling/Booking rules you say out loud
The rules in your head, running the calendar

Say the rule once. The calendar follows it everywhere.

Every scheduler has a toggle for the rules it thought of. Palm takes the rule in your words, reads it back, shows what it would have done to your last two months, and applies it to the booking page, the front desk, and every text.

Booking rules you say out loud in Palm
What it does

Booking rules you say out loud, in detail.

Nine kinds of rule

Consecutive limits, daily caps, per-therapist buffers, gap avoidance, service windows, room requirements, new-client padding, blackout windows, and cleanup per visit.

Read back in plain English

The confirmation is generated from the rule that will actually run, not written by the model. If it says it, that's what happens.

Replayed against real bookings

Before a rule goes live, Palm runs it over your last two months and shows what it would have refused, by date and client.

Every channel, one rule

The booking page, the front desk, texts, and staff booking by hand all read the same rule table.

Undo, always

Every rule has a switch. Turn it off, delete it, or say the opposite; nothing is ever silently overwritten.

Say it, see it, approve it

Compilation happens once, when you say the rule. The booking path only reads validated rows, so the model is never near a live availability check.

A closed vocabulary

"Can Palm express this?" is a lookup against a finite list, so the honest "not yet" is structural. Every miss is logged and becomes the roadmap.

Ambiguity gets a question, not a guess

"Deep tissue" could be two services. Palm asks which, with choices, instead of picking one.

Rules that don't apply get flagged

A rule about hot stone, replayed against a studio that hasn't sold one since May, says "untested" instead of "blocked 0".

Say it to Palm
Never more than two deep tissues in a row for Ashley.
Don't let anyone book deep tissue after 6pm.
I only do hot stone Mondays and Fridays, 11 to 3.

Rules about the day, not just the slot

Some rules can be answered from one candidate slot. Others need the therapist's whole day: what she's already done, what comes next, how long since her last break.

Sequence rules

"Never more than two deep tissues in a row." Palm counts the run before it offers the next one.

Daily caps by service

"At most three deep tissues a day." Not appointments, that service.

Windows and blackouts

"Hot stone Mondays and Fridays, 11 to 3." "No deep tissue after 6." "Nobody books Mondays."

"Setting availability is annoying."

What it doesn't do yet. Rules that change with time ("hold Saturday mornings for 90-minute sessions until Thursday") are on the build list.
Questions

About booking rules you say out loud

Do I have to phrase rules a certain way?

No. Say it like you'd say it to a new hire. If Palm isn't sure which word you meant, it asks with choices.

What if two rules conflict?

Rules can only refuse, never allow, so they can't fight over an answer. The stricter one wins, and Palm tells you when a new rule overlaps an existing one.

Can a rule apply to one therapist only?

Yes. Most kinds take a therapist: "for Ashley", "Marco needs 30 minutes between".

Can I see the rules as a list?

Yes. Just Ask shows every rule: what you said, what Palm does about it, and a switch.

Does the front desk follow the same rules?

Yes. There is one rule table. The booking page, the text front desk, and staff booking by hand all read it.

What can't it express yet?

Rules that change with time ("hold Saturday mornings until Thursday") and priorities on the waitlist. Both are on the build list; ask for one and it's logged.
